Utah Chapter Meeting

Mountain America Credit Union - West Jordan, UT

The next ACUIA Utah Chapter Meeting will be hosted by Mountain America Credit Union on Friday, August 25 starting at 11:30am.  The meeting location is Mountain America Credit Union training facility at 7167 S Center Park Drive, West Jordan, UT 84084.  The meeting will start with lunch from 11:30 to approximately 12:15, our guest speaker will present to us from 12:15 to 1:15.  After our presenter, we will conclude our meeting with a roundtable discussion with the group, including your feedback and comments about our Annual Conference in San Antonio.  For those who attended, please share with the chapter your best takeaway from the conference in our roundtable session. We will finish about 2:00 pm.

We are pleased to have Mr. Gil Miller from Rocky Mountain Advisory LLC as our meeting presenter.  Mr. Miller has 30 years’ experience in public accounting and is the Senior Managing Member of Rocky Mountain Advisory LLC in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has been primarily involved with investigative accounting work, bankruptcy case work, troubled company workouts, breach of contract, contract claims, and fraud examinations. Mr. Miller regularly serves as a bankruptcy trustee and receiver.  Gil is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Fraud Examiner, and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor.  His experiences over the years has provided many opportunities to investigate and resolve high profile legal cases involving suspected fraud and criminal activity.  I have included Mr. Miller’s resume in this email.

The topic of Mr. Miller’s presentation is “Choosing Ethical Excellence.”  He describes the topic of his presentation in this way, “In my years of investigating fraudulent behavior, I have had many occasions to witness unethical and illegal behavior, and often asked myself why did they choose to do what they did.  In trying to answer that question, my investigative experiences have led me to the conclusion that there are specific behaviors that, if followed, would help individuals avoid some of their ethical quandaries.”

For those CFE chapter members requiring CPE credits in Ethics, this will provide one hour of credit.  You may also extend an invitation to the other fraud professionals at your Credit Union.

Please RSVP to Nathan Cunningham at ncunningham@macu.com with your attendance numbers.
