Mr. Johnson has more than ten years of public accounting experience. Mr. Johnson uses his experience to provide audit compliance services to the firm’s financial institution clients. His experience includes providing audit services for many of the firm's SEC registrant clients. Mr. Johnson’s engagement experience includes both internal and external audit services for credit unions ranging from $2 million to over $2 billion. In his role as partner, he oversees our engagements by assisting in the design of the audit strategy, directing the fieldwork and reviewing the work of the staff accountants assigned to the engagements.
Professional affiliations for Mr. Johnson include membership in the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Tidewater Chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he serveds as President on the Board of Directors in 2012 and is a Past Chair of the Young CPA Committee. In addition, he is a five-time recipient (2009 - 2013) of Virginia Business Magazine's “Super CPA” recognition in the Young CPAs category. In addition, he was awarded the VSCPA’s Top 5 Under 35 distinction in 2012.
At the industry level, Mr. Johnson is a member of the Association of Credit Union Internal Auditors and the Risk Management Association. Mr. Johnson is also the author of numerous financial institution articles and has been a frequent guest speaker at industry conferences and seminars.
Mr. Johnson graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in Wilmington, North Carolina where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He also holds a Master of Science in Accounting from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. In addition to being a CPA, he is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).
